Transom Cap... need Ideas

So I?m helping a friend with a transom replacement on his 18? closed bow Starcraft.
The old girl did not have any cap protecting the transom on the top edge. Wondering if anyone has run across this problem and if they found a solution. We will be hanging a 90hp tower of power off the back and would like to protect the edge of the transom from the elements. Sorry no pics.

When I was contemplating changing my rig over to an OB I was thinking that I'd need the transom cap too.

I checked with my local Starcraft dealer and they just pick up long sections of aluminum c channel directly from Starcraft and then bend it up as they need to for repair jobs or what have you.

They were happy to sell me whatever I needed by the foot. If memory serves it was pretty reasonable too. Maybe 1.50/ft or so? It was pretty thin stuff so it seemed very doable to bend up to the transom form with some finesse.

So, check with your Starcraft dealer and see if they can get you some, eh!

GLG, I have mentioned this before, if there is a glass shop around you that installs storefronts, check with them. The extruded aluminum for storefront framing can be cut and shaped (obviously) to cap the transom. You could even use two pcs of L angle and attach them from each side, with sealer of coarse. I do glass work for a living, and I can tell you they could order what you want too if they don't have a scrap piece lying around. Good Luck, Dale
