I am replacing my flywheel and need to know where to set my timing. Any and all help is appreciated, I have not bought a manual for this motor yet, I figured I would ask the experts first. Also how do you adjust the timing?

Timing should be at 30 degrees before TDC. There should be a 0 deg. mark, a pointer on the block, and a decal showing advance. Timing is set at wide open throttle.

Thanks alot, also would it be 28deg. when cranking? Another thing is my new flywheel came in and it has a slot in the middle where the crank shaft inserts, will this line up the same with out having to set the timing?

If by slot you mean the keyway, then yes the flywheel will line up correctly. However due to manufacturing tolerances the timing may be slightly off so you still need to check it.

And yes, I believe it is 28 degrees at cranking--with the throttle wide open-- you need to remove and ground the plug wires to prevent starting (ground to prevent CD box damage)and will need to "jump" the solenoid because of the neutral interlock.

How do you ground the plug wire? Can you explain this a little more please. Thanks

Take a length of wire and stick one end into the end of the plug wire where the spark plug would normally go, take the other end of the wire and attach it to the block or any ground wire.
