I recently got a 4hp evinrude and another for parts, so I switched out all parts that needed to be, cleaned carb, set points.

It has good spark on both spark plugs.

bottom cylinder has good compression.

top cylinder has very low compression, but the cylinder looks fine with no scratches, and the ring look like they are stuck

For now I am just trying to get it to run on the one cylinder, and try some yamaha ring free in the top one and hopefully free up my piston ring

I am waiting for the pull start, so have been trying to start it with drill

It is starting to sound like it wants to start, and there is now oil comming out of exhaust when i try and start

my question is why is there black oil comming out of exhaust?

Unburned fuel.

Please put numbers on "good" and "very low". They are too subjective.

I have been trying to spin the flywheel clockwise to start it, I reversed the plugs again, and it let out what sounded like a backfire. I am pretty sure I had the coils going to the right plug to begin with, but when i reverse them something is happening.
