Re: evinrude decals

i dont know, i have checked so many places i lost track, lol all i need is the dimentions of to because i have someone to make me one but i dont want it to big that it looks rediculicous or to small that it doesnt look right..... i hate to be a pain but im a perfectionist and i always want things to be right. anyway i have one more question for you what do you recommend to free up a seized motor that has been sitting. i dont know how long it has been sitting but i got the motor cheap, real cheap on ebay and i heard that it is a very good motor and very reliable so i would like to fix it besides i love fixing stuff and learning new things so any help you might be able to pass along would be greatly apprecated.

thanks

Re: evinrude decals

the only other place I can think of is nana's decals on ebay, which you've probably already checked. As far as the dimensions, maybe someone will have one and will take some measurements for you. I don't have one, myself.

for a seized motor, you should remove the spark plugs and spray some pb blaster or other penetrating oil into the cylinders and lay the motor down with the cylinder head up. Also, you might remove the bypass covers and take a peak at the piston rings to see if there's any rust or scoring. The intake bypass covers are two little covers on the side of the cylinders on the shifter side of the motor. DO NOT take off the exhaust cover on the other side since you can almost assuredly break a couple of the bolts off.
You might also spray some penetrating oil into the carb throat and let it soak from that direction for a while.
Try taking a light and shining down the spark plug hole and look for rust.
If you see any rust in the cylinders or on the rings, it's not a good sign.
After letting the penetrating oil soak in for a day or so, try putting socket wrench on the flywheel nut and bumping it a little. Don't be too forceful or you could snap a piston ring.
You could also take the carb and intake manifold off and look at the crank from that side with a light. IF there's rust on the crank or main bearings, it's toast.
Good luck,
JBJ
