Starter wire goes bad?

2000 Volvo 7.2 Gi engine won't start. I have 12V at the ignition switch, but nothing at the starter solenoid. Because the wire is buried inside the wiring harness, there is no way to trace it. I ran a new wire from the key to the solenoid. Engine now starts and seen to run fine. Is there anything I bypassed that I should not have.

Ayuh,... If you left the original wire On the motor end,..
It'll back feed the circuit with power...
But,..
You probably otta find a manual,+ Fix it Right...

Several things, most importantly the neutral safety switch. You need to fix it correctly. 'nutcase
