I had this motor starting, running fine. Everything seemed to be in order, however some of the connections were loose and rattled out (green choke and yellow start) when i tried to screw them back in they were stripped out. I attempted to use a couple machine screws to replace the ones that looked stripped but in the process i think i may have damaged that block. It clicked the solenoid but would not start and tripped the breaker several times before i gave up.

Are there circuits in that block i may have damaged with the screw thats too long?
Is there a spec list for ohm/amperage i can test for off that block? my manual doesnt have them listed
Should i replace that wiring block?

Finding one shouldnt be a problem theres a great boat salvage yard in port byron about a half hour away from me.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Ok heres an update, i tried today to get the motor started, and sure enough after wiggling a some wires around it turned over for me but it is sometimes still tripping the breaker causing me to have to reset by cutting power for a minute, what connections should i check and should i still get a new wiring terminal to avoid loose connections on the water?

I have a '66 50 and '69 45. both have the same terminal block thaaaaaat you mentioned and no there are no circuits in the terminals, it's just a juction point. if you cant find one at the salvage try a rv/trailer supply house, the one by me has alot of differant sizes.
to find the short, use your meter and OHM each wire (disconnected)on it's own while moving the crimp connector. make sure ther are no open spots on the insulation that could rub on metal. one other thing to look at is the yellow wire from the block-interlock-starting relay. it is the wire that bring voltage from the key to the starter relay.

Could i update that junction to a set of quick disconnects to make moving the motor easier?

I wouldn't.The more connections there are the more possible trouble spots( corroded connectors, bad connections ,etc).I like to keep it simple myself.

I would recomend keeping a terminal block like the one that's on it. it's alot easier to troubleshoot that way and most quick connects would not support the number or the size wire needed. the red and black from the terminal block need to be a larger size than the rest plus you have the large main battery cables that would not/should not be no a quick connect. On mine i am puting another terminal block under the splashwell on the transom so i can loosen the screws at the transom or the motor and pull the entire harness.
