Re: multi ratio oil

i was looking at chain saw 2 cycle oil at atwoods, and they have this new multi ratio 2 cycle oil.no matter what your ratio is you just add this bottle to one gallon of gas and your good from 16;1 all the way to 50;1.its ashless so the smoking is almost completly non existent.and so far i have not oil fouled my spark plug, where as before with 32;1 every other start i was oil fouling my plug id pull the plug couple squirts of lighter fluid then she would run a little while longer.now, they had different name brands of this stuff huskavarna, etc.,i got briggs & stratton brand, and it says to not mix with ethanol unleaded on the bottle.theres a little gas station by my house that sells straight unleaded, not the e85 stuff.and so far its like a completely different engine but as i said earlier,i still have not ran the whole gallon of gas yet.so it could blow up the next time i start it,but so far its like i overhauled the engine.now maybe some of the other name brands can be mixed with e85,dont no,didnt read them.i grabbed briggs because i no there getting into the outboard market.but chainsaw wise husky is king so maybe i should have tried it.this basically takes the guess work out of trying to figure out the right mix ratio for your older 2 strokes, poulon even had a synthetic version of this stuff, but it was like 8 bucks a bottle(3.2oz)and they only sold it in 6 packs.so somebody is very proud of this stuff.:cool:sailors delight!

if you compair a small bottle of sears 40-1 and penzoil synth you will find its the same stuff, I would guess that multi ratio oil is a marketing ploy to sell dumbies high grade 2 cycle oil, the "oil companies" suspect your stupid, you really should use the recomended mix for your engine or kiss it good bye...so long little tecumseh its been nice knowing you....sorry but I'm a skeptic when it comes to new and improved,

Ps I run 93 octain 50-1 penzoil synth in my 7.5 1977 eska, and it screams

Re: multi ratio oil

the dude i bought the five horse from, told me he always ran 50-1 on pump gas,and it ran like a screaming demon.well i tried that in a bucket after 20 or so pulls i pulled the plug and it was oil fouled.so i knew the ratio wasnt right.went online to try and find something out about the motor and was told 16-1 it started but ran like crap spiting and sputtering.went back online and came here to iboats, found out exactly what ratio it called for,32-1,not 50-1 or 16-1.so i tried 32-1,she ran decent, she would idle, had wot, etc.went to the lake fer a spin wot to my secret crappie hole.shut her down, fer a min. or so she wouldnt start, fouled plug.luckily i keep lighter fluid in my boat box,got her fired back up hauled *** all the way back to the ramp.shut her down would not start agin, fouled plug.on the way home is when i stopped at atwoods and bought some of that oil they make fer us suckers!and so far she runs like a scalded dog and fires up first pull every time.even this morning and we got snow on the ground here.

Re: multi ratio oil

the 14208-a was a motor someone was trying to sell to me,but i didnt buy it.my motor is a 74 5hp.briggs & stratton easy mix is the oil i was refering too:) my point is not all oils can be mixed with e-85 gas.and this could be what is giving some people fits with their engines.

You have a Briggs & Stratton??? Isn't that a four-stroke??? You don't mix gas for a four stroke. Gas goes in the tank and oil goes in the crankcase. Please clarify what you are running here.

Re: multi ratio oil

well, ok I'll let you put oil in your gas then. I'm not sure, but I think Eska said to run 50:1. Can't say I agree with them, but I don't care.

Re: multi ratio oil

You need to learn more about oil and fuel, Capt. You have been loaded up with myths.

E-85 is not gasoline, it is ethanol with a bit of gas in it. E-10 or E-15 is gasoline with a little bit of ethanol in it.

I would not use any oil that claims to be multi-ratio, or any oil in a water cooled 2 stroke that isn't TC-W3 rated.

I would not expect any small engine tuned for gasoline to run well on E-85 or most TC-W3 oils to mix well with E-85.

Most 50:1 engines will run on 16:1 fuel or anything between, but it would be a foolish risk to run a 16:1 engine on 50:1.
