Just want to start off by saying thanks for any help ya'll give me. The last time I was on the lake I hit a stump and sheared the top off the drive shaft, anyone have any ideas on where I can find a used drive shaft? Also the same day I broke the drive shaft the motor didnt want to top out. It would accelerate then just bog down. Any thoughts on how to get it running good? Its about time to start bowfishing and I need my motor to be operational! Thanks again

Most likely the stump didn't break the shaft. It probably was fatigued and ready to break anyhow. 99% of the broken shafts are caused by bent housings, either the gearcase or exhaust housing. Mis-alignment causes the shaft to bend back and forth each time it rotates. Put a new one in and it will break too, if you give it enough time. The service manuals all show how to check them. Dis-assembly is required.

You remove the part and put it on a surface plate and check the height from side to side, using a dial indicator. To a quality control inspector, the operation would be called checking parallelism. A machine shop can do it for you. All in a normal day's work for their QC guy. Won't take him over 10 minutes.
