Porsche 914 had a four banger volkswagen engine I believe<br /><br />Honda Passports (the SUV not the little moped wannabe thing from the 70's) were made by Isuzu, you remember Isuzu, Joe's company! Buy a passport, get a rodeo!

The GTO is about $8K more than the Mustang, but blows it away. More bhp, better quality. Awesome ride. I thnk they are going to be pretty reasonable used as they are not selling very well. Great car!!

[colour=blue]In 2005, Nanjing Automobile Corporation (a Chinese company) purchased the 'MG' brand. Up to this point, MG was in liquidation.

This year, Nanjing announced that it would build MGs' in North America. An assembly plant is to be built in Oklahoma City with production expected to be begin in 2008.

Nanjing has it's finger in numerous pies - FIAT, ISUZU and SEAT to name a few.

Recently read the GTO is going off production. I had heck locating one to drive and when I did it had been, well lets say altered with big wheels and tiny side walls and was standard. I like the car but wanted a standard tire and wheel. 400 hp was quick.

I think I will wait to try out a Challenger. Wonder who builds it. Hope it has 400 hp Hemi.

Yes Honda did have the ISUZU rodeo for a while. They needed a large SUV and just rebadged a Rodeo. All the HONDA dealerships and machanics hated them. the part codes were totally different and were a complete pain to work on.

Nissan and tohatsu are the same.
I think Johnny E'rude are owned by OMC
Mercury and mariner are the same.
force and chrysler POS is the same but is getting better since being bought by brusnwick
Merc mariner is also owned by brunswick

The intial Acura SUV was a rebadged Isuzu Trooper. Isn't the new duramax diesel made by Isuzu as well? And some of the really small chevys are now made by daiwoo I think?

Dawoo went down and GM purchased all the plants. GM does not support the older Dawoo warranties and left the Dawoo dealers high and dry.

The Chevrolet Aveo is a Dawoo with a chevy badge.

Remember- Toyota = Chevrolet Prism.

Toyota Matrix = Pontiac Vibe

Yes the Duramax is an Isuzu diesel. GM and Isuzu have been in bed for well over 30 years.

Mazda and Ford have been swapping models and parts for years. My old Ford SHO had a Yamaha enigine and a Mazda transmission. Nissan and Ford used to share the Windstar (made by ford).

Remember the OLD AMC cars and jeeps.... they used everyone's parts.

In the "powersports" world..... Suzuki makes engines for Arctic Cat, Kawasaki makes engines for Arctic Cat and now Arctic cat makes some of their own (Junk - did I say that?) engines. The older snowmobiles had alot of Kawisaki engines, John Deere markets other brands under their badge too. The Suzuki/Kawasaki have been sharing quite a bit over the years.

Honda (powersports and power equipment) remains somewhat exclusive for their motors and transmissions.

BRP/Can-AM/Ski-doo/Sea-doo are pretty set in using their own stuff too.

There is a significant sharing of controls and electronics.

We have not even touched upon Heavy Equipment!

Oh yeah.... the Yugo has passed away! That was a Malcolm Bricklin introduction to the USA but, so was Suburu. Win some lose some. His latest venture is Chinese vehicles called Chery.

Go to the heavy truck side, Daimler owns Freightliiner, Western Star, Sterling, Mercedes. GM Trucks, ISUZU runs GM Medium Duty Truck. Volvo Trucks NA owns Mack Trucks.

From an auto rag a few years ago. The discussion was concerning the resale value of an Acura vs a baby Benz.

Volvo Trucks NA owns Mack Trucks.

They (Volvo Trucks) also own Renault trucks which are big in Europe. All three are starting to share a common family of engines too. Only difference is the valve cover . . . We manufacture (and I sell) the injectors for their nat gas 9 liter.

Ford is trying to sell Aston Martin I understand. We should all chip in together and buy 'em! Wouldn't it be cool to pull up to a light, roll down the window and say "Bond, James Bond" and then punch it? 8)

TVR is the ultimate sportscar (IMO). It's a small independently owned car maker in Blackpool, England.<br /><br />Unfortunately for the british, it is now 100% owned by a russian.

Begging your pardon but now I am confused. Unless one hundred percent of something is less than one hundred percent of somethting else.
