i have a 200 hp evinrude vindicator STLEOA model number Here we go last year i cleaned the carbs the best i could and put them back on. Waited 2 months before fishing. this is how it turned out. took 20 minutes for it to start it would hit and the starter would spinn freely. the same story for 20 minutes. I got it to crank then it would idle about a min go dead but would crank back up easy. cranked it up again and go to put it in gear and it would go dead. I finally played with the hot foot and got it to go and on wide open it would surge from 51 to 64 mph so i put it on the trailer. i had a guy look at it last year for spark and compression he said it was good he said the carbs were probally needing to be cleaned. i know the are plastic and there are 6 of them so what do you think is my next step i work on cars but i just need some help on what to look for. the only thing that i have not messed with is the needle valve on the port behind the carbs will work it till christmas if i have to but i really want to go fishing

Cleaning the carbs best you can might not translate to rebulding carbs with new kits, removing jets and running wire through them, using all supplied parts that came with kits. I don't know what you did when you cleaned them but they sound like they could still be clogged.
Did you change the filter between the carbs
Clean the wire mesh filters in each carb?
got a manual for the engine

I took each carb apart and ran cab cleaner through every hole i could find in them and ran a wire pick through the small holes on the plate behind the carbs. I did not see a wire mesh in the carbs where is that located at i dont have a manual for it i guess ill have to start over.

thats what i was thinking. I have been through the carbs 2 times and cleaned everything that i saw the high jets are big and not stoped up. I tried to crank today and it will crank up and run but just as soon as u give it gas or put load to it it stalls and goes dead will crank right back up and seems to run a little rough im dont know were to go from here the screw into the plate behind the carb has some screws with a gasket cleaned all those little holes. What is the screw with the spring around it for i have not touched it. I just dont know i might have to take it for service i just did not want to. if some one has ideas let me know
