Ok, so I got the seal out of the seal retainer for the propeller shaft of my '67 33hp johnson. The new seal is different from the old seal in that the old one had both sides with a closed face (new seals are from the sierra kit sold on iboats). the new one has only one closed face. So the question is about installation: how do I install the new seal. Does the closed face face outward of the retainer or inward? See pics below:
