Need to replace the swim platform on are boat. Currently it's 18 inches deep. Gonna change that to 30 inches deep. Current was built with 2 sheets of 3/4 plywood and fiberglass. Which by the way was heavy. I got the support system worked out. If i use composite deck boards i have to use a 3/4 backer board. If not it's too bouncy. If i use regular pressure treated deck boards it's okay. Has anyone used regular deck boards? My goal is to have a slightly deeper platform and lighter then what was currently there

To go bigger but lighter you need composite, a rigid urethan foam core will work, glass it both sides. I think coosa might have something suitable.
It should be built in a mold for best appearance and have anchor points installed within during the layup.

Would teak wood work in this application? If so, it would be very attractive and light.

Yeh, I'd buy a used one in teak from craigslist, its not light though.

Teak is extremely dense and hard. You can easily smoke a skillsaw cutting teak.
