Hi,

I just bought a 1985 bayliner capri with a 85 force motor yewsterday.
Does any one know what type of battery I can use in it?
It has a stereo also, but not sure if that makes a lot of difference.

I was wondering what voltage, and size.
Im new to the big boat world..lol

Could I just go to walmart and get one?
Thanks ;)

Yes Wallyworld,Any battery 450CCA or over.If you are gonna listen to the radio after you shut off the motor then get a bigger battery up to 1000CCA
But to be real sure you have a battery to start with, put in a second and a battery switch. That way (if you can remember to switch it on and off)you will always have a good battery.J

Hey thanks.

It doesn't look like it had a regular car battery in it by the cables.
But it could of been a side mount battery I guess.

Thanks,

Walmart carries the Marine Maxx batteries. Get a Group 24 or 27 and make sure you check the water from time to time as that engine only has a rectifier and not a regulator. It will boil water out of the battery as it normally runs at 16volts.

If you use the boat alot and also have electronics on it, I suggest that you convert to a regulator. The procedure is located in a sticky about high voltage at the beginning of the Force forum. This protects your electronics and makes your battery last for a few years.
