My 2003 225 mercury optimax power trim will not work. The solenoids click and there is power to the trim motor leads. The engine has been in storage in my garage for the winter. The battery is fully charged. I realize the electric motor and or pump may need replacement, however is there anything I can try first?

Sounds like not enough juice. Insure that the battery is good. You can try jumping it with the car to test. Insure the connecters to the solenoids are clean.

The starter motor turns the main engine over and the hydraulic jack plate works fine. The battery is almost new and reads 12.5 volts on my meter. It is possible the amperage going to the trim pump motor is not enough. if so where would it be restricted?

It's possible that the solenoids are bad but for both to go at the same time would be strange. Bad connections would cause a loss in amps. Check the amps at the solenoids.
