i have a 1971 mercury 75 (7.5hp) it runs fine in a barrel starts first pull. when i when i get the boat in the water (under a load) it gets to a quarter throttle then bogs and stalls. i am getting around 90lbs compression per cylinder. and the carb has been cleaned recently. and help in solving this problem would be great.

I have a 73' with the same problem but it doesn't stall just sputters alot especially when you wind it up when its warm. These ignition parts are very expensive to narrow it down. Hopefully someone has easy cheap fix.

not to sound stupid but by ignition are you talking about the coils and the plug wires?
