I have a Mariner 40m (6E9-45.....) and have just purchased a 12? 6? Picton Sprint speed boat.I noticed that the transom of the boat will seem to only utilise a long shaft motor (correct me if I am wrong).

I wish to use my Mariner as I have stripped her down and rebuilt her to almost new condition. Is there a way possible to convert her to become a longshaft outboard?

Re: Standard shaft to longshaft conversion

Never done this myself but you would need a new midsection and lower unit with the longer driveshaft, exhaust tube and water tube. You would also need to replace the upper shift shaft with the longer version.

Some MFR's produce a conversion kit. Check with your dealer to see if one is available for your motor.

Its going to be a lot of trouble and probably quite expensive. Try shopping around for a complete longshaft motor and maybe just swap the powerhead over.
