I am replacing the Impeller on the 75 Evinrude 50HP, I usualy know how to do this, I have started to pull off the lower end, removed all the bolts. 6 total, well. it drops down about a 1/4 of a inch, and will not go down anymore, usualy they drop straight down for me.. what am I missing, I heard something about the shift shaft, but Dont know where to lacate the bolt or nut or whatever it is ,to allow it to drop down, any pics? or anything that will help me find the area of the shift shaft where i disonect it?

does not matter. the impeller will correct itself as soon as you start the motor.

while your working on the cooling system you might as well and check your thermostat for proper working order.

UMMM....
You got it in water, right?

Seriously, did you get the water tube into the pump correctly? Are the tube grommets good? Did you check the t-stat?
When running there should be water coming from the relief ports on the upper rear of the exhaust housing.

looks to me like there should be a seal of somekind, where the tube goes into the tower on the water pump housing, there is no seal or gromet or anything, but there is a seal down in the inside of the housing, but it looks like there hsould be one there on top, im going to have to take it back apart and check it i guess...
