It's a 1977 Caddo with a 55hp Johnson of the same year. I'll post pics as soon as i take some. Initial investigations revealed that it moves through the water under it's own power. However it will not start from the key and non of the accessories work (i.e. lights, bilge pump.) When took off the engine cover I figured out why. It looks like the harness has been cut and wires have been spliced to run to the remote control. I pulled the panel out of the starboard side and found a jumble of automotive wires amongst other things. So this should be fun.
I've found the motor side harness. Does anyone have a compatible part number for the remote side. If it helps the model # is 55EL77D. I'm not opposed to replacing the remote control if that's an issue too. The boat outside of the remote shouldn't be too much of a chore. It seems that there are plenty of resources concerning that wiring.

All in all any help would be appreciated. I look forward to chatting with all of you!

Re: I inherited a boat

Thanks for the speedy responses. I'm already in love with the boat and I'm loving tinkering with it. I checked out the harness, and like you said tashasdaddy, it looks like what I need. All of the controls on the remote look to be in working order so I'm ordering that harness.

Jonesg, I was just commenting to my wife about how fun restoring a vintage boat is gonna be. I'm gonna head over to that forum and use it as ammunition!
