Just found the forum, so i thought i would use it.
I have a 93 crownline mercruiser 175 hp v 6 . No problems (knock on wood)
The guy i have winterize it said maybe we should pull the lower unit off and check things inside, As far as i know and i've owned it since 98. its never been off. should we do it? and what do we check? Not saying he doesn't know what he's doing but i know i don't. thank u

Re: preventive maintenance

Yes, you should pull the outdrive and change the ujoint bellows, grease the ujoints, check the alignment, and change the raw water pump.

And don't wait another 12 years to do it again. Should be an annual maintenance thing. Besides How did you go so long on one impeller?

Re: preventive maintenance

if ya wanna know what needs to be done for pm there are several places to read up at.
the oem service manual has the winterization process and bring it back into service process per what the oem thinks you should do. there is also a maint. schedule in it.

ya might also have a look at the winterization/summerization thread in the adults only sticky at the top of the i/o fourm. much good info in there too.

go here. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=288430

look at #5 for winterization/summerization and #9 to get the oem s/m.
