i recently purchased a used 20 ft mirrocraft which has an 1987 150 hp evinrude./
this motor has evidently been converted to mixed fuel system. not sure if the 1987 came standard with the vro system. it starts and runs as long as keep the fuel bulb pressurized. without manual pumping the motor will die, the boat has a 30 gallon gas tank and i only put in 6 gallons w/oil. what do i look for
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check out my post "evinrude vro" that should get you started.Im not sure if your motor has a vapour pump but the symptons are similar.Could be air leak, pump failure, primer bulb, quite a few actually.Start an the tank and work up.

Re: 1987 150 hp evinrude fuel problem

I had a 1988 Evinrude 150HP with the exact same symptoms (needed to keep pumping fuel primer bulb to keep motor running). I just replaced the fuel pump without testing it since I didn't have the correct tools to test. The new fuel pump solved my problem. It was a few years back and I don't remember the exact install of the new one, but I did it myself without any problems. I would try to check yours first but you might need a new fuel pump. Mine was VRO
