I have a 92 Johnson 40. The power trim fluid is leaking bad at the top of the cylinder where the shaft goes in. I was thinking of replacing the seals myself and getting them from a hydraulic shop as mentioned in other threads. Does anyone have any info on how-to tips, diagrams, or videos? Or would the best bet be to buy a manual?

Get the seal kit and replace the seals in the cap where the leak is coming from. It is a good time to put a new seal on the piston while you are there. Just screw the cap off with some big channel lock pliers and you will see what to replace. I just did this last week.

I hate to pay $50-60 for the seal kit when others have just picked up hydraulic seals for much much less. I wonder if it's worth replacing all the seals while I have it apart or just the ones leaking at the shaft?

Then just order the seals for the cap, they have them on the link I showed you. There are 2 of them. The are not o-rings so a hardware store will not have them.
