Hmm, any ideas on how to mount a ladder?

Anyone have any idea how I would mount one of those small ladder/swim platform on this transom, the problem of course being the huge curves on the outside of the transom..

Ignore the ugliness of the hull and motor, I'm slowly working on making her look good

I had a two step ladder on my low profile 16' speedboat. After some years I removed it, as it got in the way of the ski rope and it was easy to just hop up on the transom, or stand on the antiventilation plate on the motor. That may be your best idea.

I put this folding step on my boat due to ski ropes and things getting caught on ladders and platforms in the past. It is great and out of the way, just fold it down when you need it and fold it up when you don't.....hope this helps

A friend of mine has one on the back of his boat as well. No issues with interference with motor or even tubing behind it. It's the best option for not having a swim deck or place to place a telescopic ladder.

Cheap alternative.

Be interested in seeing what you choose and of course a followup pic with it. Good luck :)

i really like the stainless fold down steps...

on lower sitting boats, a single step is really all you need....

Re: Hmm, any ideas on how to mount a ladder?

I saw this thread and I'm looking for a ladder to mount on the transom of my 19ft fiberglass outboard.
What type of mounting hardware is suggested for fiberglass boat?
I would not have access to get a backing plate installed.
Thanks
I have been climbing the motor and the wife does not like that idea-

oldboat2, open a new thread instead of commenting on the end of another.

Quick answer is that its you need to get access to the backing plate so that it can be properly installed.

I've looked at a bunch of different ways, and the only real way to do it properly, depending on where you're attaching it is to consider putting an access port on the deck or in the bilge area so that you could mount the ladder and reinforce behind it properly.

Here is what an access port looks like:

Simply cut a hole, using the inner diameter (some include templates) and fasten this port. Will give you the access you need.
