Mariner 25 HP starts runs quits

I have a 25 horse mariner, which I am trying to get ready for the summer and it starts, runs for about 10 seconds and then slowly dies. What would cause this. I am getting pretty frustrated any ideas? thank you to anybody who helps.

I'm assuming it's a two stroke. If so, how is the compression in the cylinders? A ring may be stuck keeping it from "sucking" enough fuel into the cylinders. Are there any unusual noices coming from the engine while it's running indicating a stuck ring. Is the vent opened on your gas tank? Was the engine winterized last fall - could be a dirty carb - run a little sea foam through the gas and see if things get better. Let me know how things turn out

You should get yourself a good manual before trying to do too much on your motor. I thought I saw a link, on this site, to a site where you could download manuals once before but for the life of me I'm not sure what the address was and I didn't bookmark it at the time.

Update, been tinkering around some more and it seems once the motor is started it will run for oh about 20-30 seconds and then fuel will come out what I assume is some kind of overflow (the same spot fuel comes out when you pump the bulb up to much) and then the motor dies. Any ideas, alright thanks again for anyone who has any input.
