PVC planks for bunks?

I would like to hear some opinions/wild guesses/theories on
using PVC planks for bunks.
I just read the post about carpeted bunks being banned on some
lakes, it sounds like an idea that tree huggers and naturalists
will run with.
I'm rebuilding my trailer now so I don't want to have to redo it in a
couple years when that gets to be a fad.
My boat is a 16' jon boat with rivets, Will the PVC cause any
problems?
Thanks for any help!

PVC planks seems like a great idea to me, and they'd be slicker than carpet for easier launching. I've not actually seen it done, maybe get a patent on the idea and get rich$$$

If the bunks are positioned like the ones 109 posted then you could use trex as it has strength when positioned vertically. If they are flat I like the one roscoe posted. You can also get 3/8" teflon sheets that can be cut and bolted to the top of 2x4's. With 3/8" you have enough room to countersink the bolts.

I've got the bunkcaps on my trailer and love them. I'd suppose the pvc would be fine for an aluminum boat but I wouldn't let it close to a fiberglass hull....just my 0.02

be careful. PVC shatters very easily if hit right. it can also get very sensitive to impact when it's cold.
