Hi,

I bought my first boat this weekened: 87 Vanguard Beretta Bowrider

The PO gave me all covers for the bought except for the poles meant to hold up the back cover that goes from the windshield to the back of the boat. The poles were damaged in a storm.

Where do I buy new ones? How hard will it be to find out which ones I need? Approximately how expensive would that be?

Thanks,
Mike

I checked out that section before posting.. it seems to me that it's adjustable poles for storage covers... I may be wrong though..

Make them out of PVC pipe. Cheap, light, easy to work with and effective.

If this is a camping type enclosure then I imagine you will have to make them. If you have access to the damaged supports you could use them to measure off of.

Yup, it's the back enclosure that would go over your head if you were to be the driver.. It will be kinda hard to make them because I don't have the old damaged poles...

While a PVC or alluminum pipe is far less expensive than a thick wall stainless steal pipe they also do not have the rigidy? (holding power) if you get caught in a good wind/storm.
something to consider.:)

Re: Where to get poles for cover

I just purchased 5 of them, three 60" and two 48". I shopped around on the internet (iboats, google) for a while, I saw a few that were > $20, but for the most part they were in the $25-$45 range depending on the size.. I prefer to buy local when I can, so I vistited a local marine store and told them what I found on the internet and they took approx. 15% off. With shipping factored in, I may have even come out ahead.

These will replace the cheap, flimsy ones that came with the boat. It's only support poles so I hated spending the cash, but now that I bought them I'm sorry I didn't do it right away.
