Re: web forum for yamaha 90?

I bought my 1999 Yamaha 90HP 2 stroke premix new and have had no problems at all. I believe that the Yamaha 3 cylinder 2 strokes are about as bullet-proof as motors get. Of course the later models are oil injected, not pre-mix, my understanding is that Yamaha has stopped importing 2 strokes the first of 2010, but there should be plenty around to buy, either new in stock or used. The main thing with these motors and all outboards for that matter is clean, fresh, stabilized fuel and a fuel/water separator, buy a manual for your motor, study up on it and do the maintenance yourself, if possible. They're 2 strokes and love the gas, make a little smoke, are strong on power, easy to maintain. Check around and lots of folks still love these motors! Good Luck!

Re: web forum for yamaha 90?

My Dad bought a Brand New 90 Yamaha in 1984, after 30 years of running Johnsons.

His trade in a purchased, New 1979 115 Johnson, blew 2 pistons in 5 years.

Neadless to say we are still running that engine today, without a single problem. And my family owns "No OMC products." All 8 units ( a family of 5) are Yamaha, or Suzuki, (Suzuki because my brother inlaw is the Head Tech at a Suzuki store) He even had a 90HP 2 stroke Yamaha.
