After being properly winterised, my 96 Bayliner Capri (Mercruiser 4.3 V6 IO) i now reluctant to start. She has a new battery, but I only get a tick when turning the key which doesnt sound like its coming from the starter motor. It sounds more like its coming from the carb area. All other power systems work fine, just no turnover.

Are the starter motors prone to sticking and or jaming? Is there any quick fix to test them, and how hard are they to remove?

Any advice or help most appreciated, the water is calling!

That click IS comming from the carb area as thats where the slave soleinoid is located. It could be bad itself. 'nutcase

Perfect, thanks. Tracked it down to a highly corroded starter motor. Any idea of the best place in the UK to get a reconditioned one?

the starter is usually hard to get at so I would recommend getting a new one.It will cost a little more but it WILL work.I have purcheased rebuilt starters before and had to replace them shortly after.Charlie
