Im getting ready to re-install tank and was wondering if its better for humidity control to foam in or re install without foam. I have a 110 gal alum tank that was foamed in by manufacter (mako) and was wondering if there are any suggestions from members..

re-foam. Its light weight, holds the tank nice and strong and it the way it was built.
Just my thoughts

I just read somewhere that you cannot use foam around tanks anymore. I might be wrong, so I will wait for others to chime in.

The only problem with foam is if it should get saturated , it will not dry out and it will corrode your tank faster. If you can mechanically fasten it in and are sure its secure I would do without the foam.

tank manufacturer's are recommending some space % ????? for expansion these days. Most offer some type of tie down straps or brackets instead of using foam.

I had a new tank put in my 1989 SeaCraft last year and it is foamed and has brackets(front & rear). The leak in the old tank was at the rear and there was no foam there. Having said that, my hull is well sealed and dry. The old tank was pretty much loose in the cavity and the old foam was in place and holding for the most part. There was also strips of non absorbing material placed under the tank so any moisture that did get in would have a place to run out and into the hull

If your new tank is alum they shouldn't have put it in with foam, water gets trapped between tank and foam , that causes crevice corrosion.
