Hi everyone, So my brother and I have been restoring / repairing this flat bottom fiberglass boat he picked up on craigslist a little over a month ago and I thought i'd post some pics of what we've got done so far. Its been a journey to say the least, having no previous experience with these things, iboats has been a wealth of information and I thank you all.

So the deck was swollen with water, seat supports soaked up water because of a wood joint I would assume with the deck, you can see the swollen bulge.

We cut into the deck to inspect and the foam was saturated wood was all rotten falling apart so we bit our tongues and cut the whole deck out.

The previous owner had the boat on a trailer with just 3 misplaced rollers straight down the bottom middle of the boat. While it was filled with water (soaking the wood under the deck) it caused this horrid buckle and crack on the center of the hull.

To fix the buckle in the hull we took a 2 ton floor jack, turned the boat over and took a small bucket, and cranked up the hull to pop the disfigured dent out of the bottom. Leaving it overnight with pressure on it seemed to work great. Grind off the gel-coat and cleaned up the cracks. While the boat was over we cleaned up some drain holes we put in the bottom and glassed those over also. Used 7oz cloth.

Now on to the deck (gulp) That was one of those "I have no idea" type of things so I browsed on here and looked around and after I got some sort of mental picture of what we needed to do we dried and cleaned out the inside of the hull and where the deck was, letting it dry out in the Florida sun went pretty fast.

We plopped the boat back on the trailer with some temporary supports on the sides of the trailer so it would retain the shape on the hull without causing it to bend inward and whatnot so we could go over the center beam (if thats what you call it) and glass the inside of the hull where the exterior damage was, and where I cut the deck out - the saw ran straight thru the center part (lol) We used WestSystems Epoxy Resin and 7 oz cloth on that spot also. While we had it out and ready we went ahead and put a clean coat of epoxy across the rest of the inside of the hull.

Now I couldnt find any really good ways on the boards here to make some sort of template to measure and draw out the deck on the 1/2" plywood we had, so after taking like 500 measurements we managed to cut out some pieces that actually fit pretty snug. It gave me a migraine hehe.

used a 3" hole saw to cut holes for foam access into the deck to pour the 2 part poly foam under the deck

After fitting the plug holes and cutting the foam crowns out of them, we plugged them back up and glassed over the deck with 7oz cloth / Epoxy resin. I wasn't exactly sure how far up the sides of the boat we needed to come with the fiberglass, so I just took a shot and brought it up about 4 inches all the way around to ensure some strength and a good seal.

These are the pics of the bottom paint we used a 59% copper anti-fouling paint, since the boat is going to be parked out back in our canal right off the ICW (indian river) we thought best to save ourselves the headache of hull growth and misc growing things and nip that in the bud ahead of time.

We picked up a 9.9 hp Mercury which we will be mounting in a couple days after everything is dried and seats, rod holders, cleats, etc - will post the final pics in a couple days :)

Nice work...a sweet power option for your boat would be an OMC 18 hp outboard...the FD series.
