picked up a new boat

well I picked up a new boat yesterday it is a 16ft 1973 American Daysailer I got a good deal on it $130. Just want any advise if anyone has any I haven't had a sailboat in years.

Welcome to iboats!

You stole that boat!!! The trailer alone is worth twice what you paid!!

Go over all the rigging, the cables and basically make sure everything is tight and freed up.

thanks for the reply I have actually been on here awhile just not a heavy poster. I just wasn't sure if i had forgotten anything that needed to be checked lol.

Very nice looking little day sailer, and what a steal! If you are going to 'dry sail' her (keep her on the trailer), something that you MUST ABSOLUTLY commit to memory without ever forgetting is to check every launching ramp area that you use for overhead power lines before raising her mast. People have been killed by raising an aluminum mast into power lines, or towing the boat into power lines after raising the mast at the ramp. Many ramps have warning signs about this, but I'm sure lots don't. Other than that enjoy & have fun!.

Good purchase! I wonder how fast you will be able to get her going with a good wind in her sails
