Delco EST Distibuter and Ignition Kit question

OK, I have a somewhat releated question about the Delco EST Distributer from an earlier post.

The kit I have does not have a very good discription of how to hook the OMC Cobra ESA module up or if you can bypass it. (5.7 GM V-8 with a Cobra Drive)

If I understand an earlier post, the green/white wire from terminal b on the distributer 4 wire connector (EST Bypas per GM Sevice Info.) is supposed to be hooked to one side of the NO (normally open) shift interupt switch and the other side of the switch to the purple (12+) wire. Does this mean I can eliminate the overstroke switch from the circuit along with the ESA module itself? (hope so)

This termnial b on the distributer is the same wire that we apply 12+ to during the timing setting procedure so my question is, does applying the 12+ via the shift interuper switch make the dist. module go into EST bypass and lower the engine RPM so we can get the drive to shift out of gear?

That is the way I am understanding the system and I hope I have it correct. As I said the instructions are not real clear and I don't want to hack this thing up and if by making it work like a Mercrusier and eliminate the ESA module and it will work OK them I'm all for it.

Thanks for the help.

Yes run +12V through the interrupt switch to the dist and yes you can round file the ESA module and overstroke switch.

Yes, 12V to the B terminal will cause the engine to hesitate a second and will allow the shift dogs to seperate.
As far as the overstroke, I don't know, never hooked up an EST on a Cobra before. But you will have to get rid of the ESA module. It will not work with the ESA at all.

try to keep the over stroke switchs.
some cobras simply had to have them and others were never fitted with them.
study the wiring diagrams and look to see which switchs closed and why then which opened and why.
I have used quite a few EST systems on cobras, its simply a matter of removing the esa and rewiring the amphenol connectors.
