v-6 buick nailhead/oddfire i/o.

Boat ran great when put away in heated garage.

Pulled it out today. Engine turns but doesn't catch.

Fresh fuel. Fresh points.

pulled spark wire and tested. Got faint yellow spark.

Read I should test resistance of coil and to check book for the correct amount.

Can't find the resistance in my manuals.

Any other ideas? Besides the coil?

Any possibility? engine is flooded,,,
flooding can occur when the ignition system is weak.

Re: Engine doesn't start

Interesting. When I pulled the plug, it was wet.

I also am starting it by connecting the terminals on the starter.

I installed a 50 amp push button.

I turn on the ignition switch, then push the button.

It worked fine last summer.

The key only ignites maybe ten percent of the time.

I'll let the boat be for tonight and try to start it again in the morning.

Perhaps the flooding will have subsided?

Thanks.

Yup, it is flooded,,,
U might be able to dry them. If the plug is too fouled will need to replace em.
Good luck.

Time for a tuneup. Probably glazed over points.
Be sure to set the point dwell and timing after you get it started.
