Is there any difference in oil pumps for my (1979) 5.7L 350 V8 marine engine and the one for a truck engine. I'm replacing the oil pan and figured I'm there why not change it.

Ayuh,... Same parts... Don't mess with Hi-flow or Hi-pressure,.. just a new standard pump...

Nope, just make sure it`s a standard one AND NOT a Hi-Volumn one

And its always a good idea to tack-weld or braze the pickup to the pump after setting the proper pan to pickup clearance.

Re: 350 Oil pump question

In case your wondering why not a high volume a marine engine may run at high rpm for long periods of time. Therefore there is a very good possibility to suck the oil pan dry since the oil wont return fast enough causing irrepairable damage.
