Hi
Has anyone replaced the forward bearing housing roller bearing equipped with a DD-52404 torrington? The bearing is not sold separately by the OEM.

Thanks

Check to see if that Torrington bearing is available from a bearing supply house. OMC/BRP was somewhat fond of using special bearings and seals, available only from them (OMC/BRP)

Torrington has a website where you can look up the number.

Try this number 0382407. The number is for a the farward bearing, but I can`t id the gearcase as a V4 or V6

Re: forward bearing housing "roller bearing"

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find the number on the torrington website, so I phoned. The bearing is just being produced for public sales and won't be available for 2 -3 months. I guess I'm stuck with purchasing the housing with bearing installed.

clanton, that number seems to be the center bearing for the prop shaft.

Thanks all

Where did you call, can you give me the number. I have a dd-52404 torrington bearing I need replaced. It came off a general housing assembly for a lower unit johnson 2000 175. I lost some of the bearing and thats all I need.

When replacing it, be careful and do not just press it in.
Heat the housing in an oven to about 150 C, 'freeze' the bearing (use a small CO2 fire extinguisher), then just drop the bearing in.
If old one just pulled out and new one pressed in, the new may start spinning in the housing.
Same method to be applied on the top crankshaft bearings that officially are only available as complete unit at killing price.
