1986 90HP Mariner Hard start cold

My 90 hp Mariner has always been hard to first start. It will pop once while cranking and disengauge the starter drive. I have inspected the flywheel and replaced the starter drive. I don't think it's a tuning issue, it runs great and idles fine. I have put up with this for years, but now that I've discovered iboats I'm hopping someone else has had the same problem.

Quite common on these engines. They LOVE fuel when cold. Squeeze the primer up nice and snug, and while cranking, hold the choke on until they run.
