San Diego Mobile Mechanic NEEDED!

Hi - I'm wondering if anyone knows of a great, trustworthy mobile mechanic that works on older outboards, especially Mercurys (mine's an 82 115). I've been having issues with it for years. I have been taking it to a mechanic the past few years and he's pretty good (always finding issues here and there), but it never seems to fix the main issue.

-hard starting when warm
-falls flat on it's face and dies getting coming out of the holeshot towing someone (doesn't always do it, but gets worse as it warms up)
-hard to get past 2K RPM's when warm (coughs and sputters)

I'm pretty positive it's a fuel issue, but the mechanic can't really tune the carbs correctly unless it's on the water.

Anyway, any advice for a mobile mechanic would be appreciated!!

Thanks
Paul

Re: San Diego Mobile Mechanic NEEDED!

Don't know about mobile mechanic, but whereabouts in San Diego are you?

If anywhere near East County, I've had good experience in the past with Sunset Marine in El Cajon (although owner just died, dunno what's going to happen there), and I've heard good things about AIM Marine in Lakeside.

I've got a 1978 3cyl 70hp that also has a history of not being particularly reliable, but I've recently become determined to whip this baby into shape. We should get together and swear at our motors over tools and beer :D

(I've got compression tester, Merc flywheel tool, and just got my DVA adapter in the mail. Let's fix our sh*t up!)
