Hi all, just bought a 1997 Chapparal that has never been bottom painted. I want to do it right but would like to do it as easy as I can. I have been readin quite a bit and wonder if anyone has experience w the no sand primers from Interlux or Petit. The plan is to use Interlux 202 or similar product to dewax the hull, put the primer on like interlux 2000, and then an ablative paint. Heard pros and cons to the no sand primer and just wondering what anyone else had experienced. Thanks Todd

I would recommend some type of barrier coat between hull and bottom paint.....is that what you meant by primer?

Re: Bottom paint for the 1st time

I did bottem paint for the first time this year, I opted for a blue water product over interlux, if I had to do it over again I might look a little harder at a no-sand primer because sanding is a HUGE amount of work. Interlux is a good brand and if you followed the instructions to the T Im sure it'll work fine
