mech fuel pump removal

recently purchased 89 cobia with the 2.3 liter ford engine,the boat has electric fuel pump,my question is should i remove the mech pump and block off or just leave in on,thanks

Ayuh,... Got a Picture,..?? Is the electric pump wired through a safety switch,..??

not yet but it will be,per previous post,its wired to the access toggle switch on the dash,gonna order one soon

thank you mr bond-o the electric pump on the boat is a facet posi-flo efp-3 and i was told that it is not marine rated but on there website is says for marine use from the best i can read maybe im wrong can you tell sir about this pump thanks much appreciated

When I looked I could find no US Coast Guard approval for that paticular pump...if you found one for that model I stand corrected.
None the less, it is wired in and unsafe manner and needs to go through an oil pressure swith per our prior discussion.
If you keep an electric pump I advise removing the dead mechanical unit and fabricating a block off plate.

thanks bomar iwill do that and find differant pump,i was thinking that the rocker arm in the mech might chip break lose and do some damage

coming from you mr bond-0 iassume the dead pump will not hurt anything thanks for you help
