Health of a Bass

Recently I landed a bass from our community lake..

It did not have that slimey film on it..the fish felt dry. Is that indicate a health issue for the bass?

Just trying to learn about the species..

Bass are not as slimey as other species to start with but if it really doesn't have the slime coat then it will die very soon.
