Question about float valve seat...

I am working on my first carb rebuild (70 hp 1977 Evinrude) and I have a question about float valve seat that is not addressed in the manual, are you supposed to put some kind of thread lock or sealant on the threads of the seat? I adjusted the seat screw to the height need to position the float as described in the manual but it feels so loose in socket I'm afraid that it will vibrate itself out of adjustment. I don't remember the old ones being that loose when I disassembled the carb... I have not reinstalled the carbs on the motor yet (I'm waiting for parts, the bottom carb had a stripped high speed jet from the PO) so I wanted to check if I was doing it right before they go back on.

Re: Question about float valve seat...

The valve seat is supposed to have a gasket under the head. Then you screw it all the way down tight. You adjust the float level by bending the float arm, not by backing off on the seat.
