Been troubleshooting and replacing obvious bad stuff. The solenoid and coil where both bad. But after replacing them I still don't get a spark. I have 12volts to the + side of the coil.

If I brush a negative to the - side of the coil I can get a spark off the coil.

Could this be my shift cable switch? Also I can't trim down or up, the pump runs, but the drive doesn't (about 1/2 full of fluid). Is this possibly related?

Have you replaced or cleaned/adjusted the points?

I've not very versed with points. Is there a quick way to test them?

Ok today I finally got back to working on this thing. But something new has cropped up. It won't turn over at all. No clicking at all. When I turn the key everything is dead, no gauges get power or anything. Is this a ignition switch issue?

I got good power on the battery (also have external charger on it). The trim pump also works.

Figured it out, stupid electrical connector was flakey. WD-40 did the trick.
