I find browsing the iBoats forums incredibly tedious on my iPhone. Yes, it renders fine & yes, I can zoom and read stuff just fine, but it's annoying. I wish there was either some kind of fancy iPhone app specifically for iBoats forums or a mobile browser theme that would make it really easy to browse & comment on the forums.

Why do you say that JB? You know what an Iphone is . . . right? :D
I know what the poster is saying. It's quite tedious trying to read or respond on a Blackberry too.

For those of us who wish to surf iboats with their PDA's iboats should have a mobile friendly version, so our time is not taken up with all their ads slowing everything down!

Just my opinion.

Bummer, they both require iBoats to change the forums to work. JB (or any other moderator)... there's a couple options for you to investigate :) PRETTY PLEASE!?!? :D

this all would be nice! i use a blackberry and iboats is one of the only forums i cant really surf from my phone. I think there are enough smartphone users here to make it worth it...

I agree with an app for iphones. I have trouble even if I enlarge the screen navigating the site from mine.

Took 3 months to get the profile link to work properly with IE. Not holding my breath for this one.

I would agree that iboats needs to be able to send and receive smoke signals. :)

Smartphone compatible would be great.

And i've been using that Tapatalk app on my iphone for a good while. It is compatible with the Vbulletin forum format. I don't think it would take too much work.
A friend that owns a smartphone site has submitted our forum to tapatalk, and it works great.

Re: Wishlist - iPhone friendly iBoats forums

It'd definitely be nice to browse without all the ads and extra stuff you don't really need on a PDA, like rank, # of posts, etc. Mainly a super slimmed down version of the current forum layout. You could do nearly all of it via CSS, but I'm guessing someone, somewhere has made a vB theme for PDAs.

Then again, we still can't embed youtube videos here, and that is only a one line config change... so I wouldn't be holding your breathe.

Ever do any MS updates or are you solely running Linux?

Actually I do run Linux quite a bit. I use a Macbook for work, but run Linux at home. I'm a systems administrator for a company that uses Mac & Linux exclusively. We're also a web service provider so we're all too familiar with the horrors of IE & we are very happy to report that a large percentage of our site's visitors use Firefox quite happily :)

So ya, I don't like IE for a good reason & no, I don't use IE except in a virtual machine for the silly networking companies that can't be bothered to get out of the last decade :)

BTW, I hope my original IE comment was taken lightly, I wasn't trying to be a jerk about it (though I do hate IE).

I haven't gotten into Chrome, but it is very fast indeed. I've been using Safari on my Macbook pretty successfully, but it can be a memory hog (not usually an issue with 8GB of RAM :)).
