Ayuh,... How about at the Points,..??

My guess is, the distributer ain't grounded, or the points aren't closing...

I have a black wire going from the negative side of the coil to the distributor housing, which attaches to the condensor. One more thing, after I get her started, im going to switch over to the new mallory unilite distributor.
How do I check for volts at the points?

Take the cap off.Use a test light and turn the motor over and see if the continuity is there.
A new condenser and points can be bad out of the box.J

Ok, now when I perform the test, i get 12 volts at the battery, but when i check it at the coil, its 6.6 volts and at the negative lead, its 0.034 volts. Think I might have a bad ground or a short somewhere?

I would suggest going to the Adults Only sticky at the top of this forum and read 16. , 17. and 18.

Ok, I finally figured out the problem, all along it was the distributor grounding itself out, had too many grounds hooked up...
