Having a hard time find a neutral safety switch for a 1976 Fiberform with Volvo engine and outdrive. The controller is built by Morse but has long been discontinued. Teleflex says it's "obsolete" so they offer no support.

I bought this switch: http://www.iboats.com/Neutral-Safety-Switch-Teleflex-Marine/dm/*******.970971084--**********.639031476--view_id.169342

It's perfect except that the contacts are normally open and I need one that's normally closed.

The Morse MT-2 and MT-3 controllers are similar to mine in that you pull a knob out for neutral and push it in when you want to put the outdrive in gear. Switch for that controller is the CA69009P. This switch may be the one I want but no way to tell unless I buy one and have it shipped.

Instead of shooting in the dark, does anyone know the correct name for these switches and how I can spec them out from an electrical supply house?

Re: neutral safety switch

There are 2 names for them, "Limit Switch" and "Micro Switch". You should be able to buy one on-line through an electronics supply house. Just search using the V3-1-D8 (I think), and you should be able to find it...

Most microswitches have both NC and NO contacts on the same switch. Must be an odd ball with only one set of contacts.

I like DigiKey for electronic stuff like this. Great on-line catalog and cheap overnight shipping.

Re: neutral safety switch

Was able to find one at the local electronics supplier. It has both NC and NO connectors. Only $3.95 vs the $40 the boating stores were asking. Let me guess - it's not "marine rated" so I'll blow up

I was surprised how simple this was. Thanks for your help
