No idea yet. I've just been donated a 1973 15' National trihull that came with this motor and a '56 Evinrude Lark. Apparently this one runs well but keeps jumping out of gear. My first boat so loads of questions! :)

The "G" and "S" indicate mid-year changes. I notice the lower unit in the picture is not the early one, so that might have something to do with it.

So where would I expect to find the model and serial number? Looked everywhere last night and could only see what appeared to be part numbers.

Well, you can't find them because they are on the missing stern brackets. The serial number will also be stamped on a quarter-sized round disc on the powerhead. But not the model #.

Excuse my ignorance (first boat :) ) but aren't the white castings in the bottom of the last photo the stern brackets?

Can't find the serial number anywhere and I have to register this soon! Does any one have an idea of the range for a motor of this type so I have some idea what I'm looking for? Every casting seems to have a number but I'm assuming that's a part no.

If the welch plug is not on the starboard side of the engine block between the cylinders, then you will probably not be able to find a serial number.

The transom brackets don't seem to match the 1976 Johnson paint, but is there 1" X 3" number plate on the port bracket?

No plates on either bracket :(
