Controller problems

[just confused]

I have a 1973 115 L6 Mercury. I had to replace my controller and cables, The new cables don't adjust out far enough to advance my distributor advancement/throttle. Can anyone sugest something?

What is the new control box? It may also be helpful to post up some photos of the cable area on the engine...
