oops, ok, turns out there IS a plastic connector that goes between the pump and tube :redface:. I just thought it was part of the metal tube because it's charred black
. But it still fits in to the pump housing well, I think it was just pushed up on the tube a little and that's why it wasn't sealing. So I stuck it on the pump housing and put the lower unit back on; hopefully it'll work great when I test it again!
