Merc 120HP cracked manifold exhaust port!!!!!!

My existing manifold is cracked on the bottom which someone patched with JB weld, not to mention water is getting into the exhaust ports, then into the cylinders, then the oil..........

So I found a local boat that is shot, and supposedly was winterized, and yes it was, lots of green came out so I was happy........until I reomved the manifold. On the center large exhaust port where the 2 inner cylinders share, there is a stress crack thru the port reaching the gasket surface. I tested this manifold and it does not leak water into the intake side or exhaust side, so can I still use this even though the exhaust port is cracked?

You can use it but you run the risk of ruining your engine.

It's just not worth trying to use a questionable exhaust manifold.

I wouldn't use it.....

How would a cracked exhuast port ruin the engine? I am not disagreeing, just curious. I can clearly see how my existing manifold could, as it is letting water in, but I am not seeing how a hair line exhaust crack could.

I think HT32BSX115 is thinking that the crack will migrate further and into the waterjacket and you will be in the same boat again. You may be able to have it welded but its a risky deal. I have welded manifolds before and have had good success. It just depends on where its at and how long the crack is. Can you drill a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it from spreading? Any used manifold is a crapshoot.

I am taking it back today. After leaving it sit all night, water did leak into the exhaust section. I am not going to risk it.

there is a stress crack thru the port reaching the gasket surface. i was just trying to picture this in my head, wondering how it wouldnt be leaking.....
glad you cought it now and not after.
