Re: starting problem

clean and / or replace BOTH battery cables, sounds like a bad ground.
always start with the simplest solution.

Re: starting problem

I have a volvo 4cy 3.0l motor that was having same issue, new battery and new starter, new cables, new plugs, tune up, fresh oil. Still nearly drained battery at the ramp at start-up. I was told the motor was cold natured, (by boat shop) and without choke i would have to pump the hell out of it to start it. Well, after doing so at ramp, playin for 45 minutes before rain hit, and shutting boat off, only to realize it wouldnt start again and hand loaded it on trailer in pouring down rain, did i say, "somethins gotta change!" I decided i would up the idle screw about 1/4 turn (gained 150RPM) and now I dont give any gas before starting, just turn key and hits immediatly, every time now without fail. Dont know if this will help, but it sure saved me some headache.

Re: starting problem

I don't think a sluggish starter can be fixed with a fuel adjustment
still sound electrical to me

Re: starting problem

Make sure all the battery cables are clean before you shell out for a starter rebuild.

Re: starting problem

The yellow w/red stripe wire is the the power jumper wire to the coil. You either hooked it up to the wrong post or left it off.
