well i went out on my pontoon boat last sunday. started up great. went about half speed over the sand bar which i think was my problem. few minutes later i looked back and noticed i had no water pumping about of the exhaust relief but water coming out of the water outlet at the bottom where it exite 2 holes on each side. turned it off hurt it gurgle a little. took thermostat out and stuck my finger in the hole and pulled some sand and a little shelll out. left the cover off and turned motor on then revved it up then shut it back down hopely pushing most of the sand out. put cover back on and went back home without putting the t-stat back in. did not overheat at all.

did i damamge my motor? it did not stall. started back up in one pull and such.

will check compression next week. probably time for a new impeller too. while i do that ill replace the gear case oil seals and fix my cowling. it vibrates to much making a loud clinking sound:rolleyes:

Re: overheat

You probably know as well as I do,that water pumps turned into sand pumps is not a good thing. It's up to you if you want to inspect the impeller.

Re: overheat

i said that i already going to check the pump with replacing oil seals. maybe pull the power head to replace mounts and oil seals in the powerhead.

i was asking if i damaged my motor? reeds or headgasket or something. ill check compression.
